Boy 1904 - Jonsi and Alex
The world is yours. You have the power to do anything and be anyone. You are infinity. You are the soul of our age. You can live unlike anyone has lived before. You are the core of the human spirit. You are the gleaming light in a room of shadows. You are the smile in a crowd of frowns. You are divinity sent directly from the heavens above. You are grace, dancing through the stars and warming every soul. You are beautiful in every form and function. You are you, and that’s the most remarkable thing in the universe.
“We make you fear your imperfections but in fact they are the diamond of your being.” -Wirrow

Smoke - Moddi
Our hearts are malleable things. They aren’t stone because we feel everything and they aren’t glass because a heart is never completely broken. Whatever heartbreak might happen we always survive through it. No matter what, we can always love once again. It might take a while before we recover but that day always comes around. We’re always feeling the ups and downs. We love and then we fall out of love. It’s a cycle that may hurts us or throws us into euphoria, but it never kills us because we are creatures of survival. We survive not only the harshest of environments but we also survive the worst of matters of the heart. The ability to feel is the most beautiful thing in the natural world.
“A kiss from sullen lips of ashes will probably blow this whole winter away.”

Saw the lovely Rachael Yamagata at Maxwells last night. She was fighting a cold, but performed an awesome show nonetheless. I have to say that my favorite moment of the night was when she played “Duet.” The way she sang it was so hauntingly beautiful and sincere. I met her after the show where she confirmed that she will be releasing an EP in the upcoming months of just her ballads. I can’t wait! She also has plans to tour in Singapore, Seoul, Europe, Australia, and another trip around the U.S. next year, so hopefully I’ll be able to catch her again. Also, I spoke to Mike Viola, who opens for her and also plays in her band, after the show, and surprisingly he remembered me from back in October when I said hello to him after Rachael’s show at the Rockwood Music Hall for the CMJ Music & Film Festival.

Rachael Yamagata - River (Joni Mitchell cover)
It’s coming on Christmas
They’re cutting down trees
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on.
