[Audio + Lyrics] Rachael Yamagata - Over and Over (Acoustic Live)
I really thought I was okay
I really thought I was just fine
But when I woke this time
There was nothing to take me back to sleep
To take you off my mind
This timeAnd I keep saying over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain
Over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain I need to hide within a storm
So have the ending come
And bring the winds that scream
And spill the fog all over town
And hold me in your standstill ground
And I will sink down
And you’ll be washed away
You’ll be washed awayOver and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain
Over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rainI really thought I was okay
I really thought I was just fine
But when I woke up this time
There was nothing to take you off my mindOver and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain
Over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain I need to hide within the storm
So have the ending come
And bring the winds that scream
And spill the fog all over town
And break through every door
And strip away the tree
And raise the rivers high
Just help me drown
And hold me in your standstill ground
I will sink down
And you’ll be washed away
You’ll be washed away -

Rachael Yamagata | Over and Over
(from the album, Elephants… Teeth Sinking Into Heart)I really thought I was okay
I really thought I was just fine
But when I woke this time
There was nothing to take me back to sleep
To take you off my mind this timeI keep saying over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rain
Over and over and over and over again
Let it rain, let it rainI need to hide within a storm
So have the lightning come
And bring the winds that scream
And spill the fog all over town
And hold me in your stand still ground
And I will sink down and you’ll be washed away
You’ll be washed away -
Saw the lovely Rachael Yamagata at Maxwells last night. She was fighting a cold, but performed an awesome show nonetheless. I have to say that my favorite moment of the night was when she played “Duet.” The way she sang it was so hauntingly beautiful and sincere. I met her after the show where she confirmed that she will be releasing an EP in the upcoming months of just her ballads. I can’t wait! She also has plans to tour in Singapore, Seoul, Europe, Australia, and another trip around the U.S. next year, so hopefully I’ll be able to catch her again. Also, I spoke to Mike Viola, who opens for her and also plays in her band, after the show, and surprisingly he remembered me from back in October when I said hello to him after Rachael’s show at the Rockwood Music Hall for the CMJ Music & Film Festival.

Rachael Yamagata - River (Joni Mitchell cover)
It’s coming on Christmas
They’re cutting down trees
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on. -
Rachael Yamagata - Even If I Don’t (Bing Lounge at 101.9 KINK.FM. Portland, OR.)
Loving this stripped down version of her song.
